SYDNEY TERRY
Hey there!
I’m Sydney! I was raised in Saginaw, MI and am a proud Spelman Woman!
I was blessed to be born to a woman in the arts and raised in the midsts of tech weeks and heaps of costume fabric. Flashy lights and shiny materials being what initially caught my eye, I grew up equating theatre with beautiful spectacle. I have since come to know this medium as the truest form of empathy—a gift to step into another’s shoes and work to understand their perspective.
My passion brought me to Spelman College in 2019 where I double majored in Theatre Performance and Documentary Filmmaking. Alongside these studies, I’ve gotten a chance to grow my craft under great programs such as The Miranda Family Fellowship, Eugene O’Neill Theatre’s National Theatre Institute, Alliance Theatre Spelman Leadership Internship, and Broadway Across America x Black Theatre Coalition.
When I am not finding my way to a mic or stage, I love traveling to new places, scrapbooking my memories, watching 1950s musicals, and playing throw-down uno with my family.
